Indigestion can range anywhere from a small burp to severe pain. If ignored, your digestive tract can become ulcerated, encrusted with fecal matter and infested with parasites. But... there is so much you can do to prevent this!

Listen to your body and choose to live life abundantly. Good health wonderfully changes the quality of living and it begins with what you eat. Fresh produce, fibre-rich foods and a good water intake are the staples for effective digestive functioning. Instead, many diets are high in fat and low in fibre and water, leaving people undernourished and dehydrated. Because so many people indulge in unhealthy foods too often, extra help is required to balance your digestive system. So here's what you have to do:

Supplement with acidophilus which is a friendly bacteria that is found in yogurt and is often deficient in the majority of people. It is especially important after taking antibiotic drugs as the drugs destroy the good and bad bacteria in the body. Acidophilus aids digestive upset and stimulates colon movement.

Drink aloe vera juice as it repairs the mucous membranes of the entire digestive system and reduces inflammation. It is an intestinal purgative and therefore can be extremely beneficial for constipation.

Include a fibre supplement every day as it scrapes the bowel clean of waste that has been collecting over years. By cleansing the bowel lining you allow greater absorption of macronutrients ( protein, carbohydrate, fat ) and micronutrients ( vitamins and minerals ) to nourish the body.

Enzyme supplementation enables food to be broken down when taken with a meal and destroys parasites when taken on an empty stomach. Enzymes reduce digestive pain and gas and some can work to reduce inflammation ( bromelain ).

Take essential fatty acids ( E.F.A.s ) in a supplement form as it will lubricate the digestive tract and assist in speeding up transit time in a constipated bowel. E.F.A.s are important in the structure of all mucous membranes.
