News Article: The ProstateProstate enlargement and prostate cancer are two major concerns facing men today. The prostate is about the size of a chestnut and surrounds the urethra in the male. The function of the prostate is to produce a secretion called semen which is alkaline and provides nourishment for sperm. It is also responsible for numerous other functions: it relieves inflammation and reduces pain of swollen glands; it helps to balance hormones; it eliminates toxins from the bladder; and it has antibiotic and antiseptic properties. With prostate enlargement, men primarily notice painful and frequent urination, and have the feeling that the bladder will not empty completely. This occurs as the prostate becomes hardened and constricts the flow of urine from the bladder. Many men have noticed much relief with the help of herbal remedies. Three excellent remedies are: Saw Palmetto, Juniper and Uva Ursi. Many men notice relief within a few weeks, including shrinking of the prostate and therefore not having to get up as often during the night to visit the bathroom. Nutrition is one of the primary causes of cancer. The statistics show that 1 in 10 men will develop prostate cancer, and it is now known that prostate cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in American men. The International Journal of Epidemiology, 1988 states, "Population groups with diets high in fiber have a low incidence of cancer, including cancer of the prostate." When the bowels are not moving properly, toxicity moves through the bowel wall and poisons the prostate, which sits right next to the bowel. Supplementation is one of the fastest ways to correct this nutritional deficiency. Fiber capsules and bulk fiber (which is added to water to make a fiber drink) work well to increase daily fiber, if fiber is inadequate in the diet. If the diet is less than 30 grams of fiber a day, and most people find they have only 10 to 15 grams a day, then supplementation is extremely important. With any nutritional program be sure to allow the body time to work naturally. Herbal supplements can give you the results you are looking for, as they nourish and balance the body naturally. |
