Description: Osteoporosis is a disease characterized by the loss of normal bone density. Bone loss causes thinning of bone tissue, making bones weak and susceptible to fractures, particularly in the hips, spine and wrists. Over 1.4 million Canadians have osteoporosis - one in every four women and one in every eight men. Women are most at risk for osteoporosis because, throughout menopause, bone mass is lost two to six times faster than normal. In the five to seven years after menopause women can lose up to 20% of their bone mass.
What is Osteo-Logic™?
Osteo-Logic is the logical choice to aid in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis. Osteo-Logic can help women reduce their risk of developing osteoporosis, particularly the increased risk of bone loss that occurs after menopause. In addition to calcium, magnesium, vitamins and minerals, Osteo-Logic contains Ipriflavone (Iprigen™), a safe alternative to high dose estrogen therapy to help maintain bone integrity. Each ingredient contained in Osteo-Logic plays a critical role in bone formation, and together creates one of the most effective tools to help combat bone loss.
INGREDIENTS:
Calcium
Calcium supplementation is one of the cornerstones of osteoporosis prevention. It is the most abundant mineral in the body, 99% of which is found in bones and teeth. Calcium helps strengthen bones during the bone building process and is fundamental for maintaining bone mass. One of the most bioavailable forms of calcium for supplementation is calcium citrate.
Magnesium
Calcium should always be taken with the other major mineral for optimal bone health — magnesium. Magnesium is concentrated in the bones and, without it, bodies cannot form healthy bones. Osteo-Logic provides the ideal ratio of calcium and magnesium for optimum absorption: two parts calcium to one part magnesium.
Ipriflavone (Iprigen™)
Ipriflavone (Iprigen™) is a specialized form of soy isoflavones that has similar bone health benefits to estrogen. Clinical trials show Ipriflavone works even better than calcium and calcitonin and as good as estrogen to increase bone density while slowing bone loss. Unlike ordinary soy isoflavones, Ipriflavone impacts primarily bone development and not other tissues in the body. Iprigen™ is a unique, trademarked form of ipriflavone that has been specially formulated to greatly increase bioavailability and effectiveness. Ipriflavone has no known negative side effects and offers a safe and effective replacement for high dose estrogen therapy to help decrease osteoporosis risk. Vitamin D
Vitamin D is responsible for maintaining blood calcium within the normal range. Vitamin D deficiency can increase bone loss and risk of fracture. Studies have shown that vitamin D is also necessary for the intestinal absorption of calcium. In fact, it can increase calcium absorption in the intestines as much as 30-80%. Vitamin D not only helps the body absorb more calcium but also helps the kidneys to excrete less calcium.
Vitamin C
Vitamin C is a well-known antioxidant, but it also has a role in bone growth. The organic structure of bones is 90-95% collagen fibres. Vitamin C is an essential vitamin for collagen production. Vitamin C also helps to create an acidic environment in the stomach which is ideal for calcium absorption. Vitamins C and D are both specifically recommended by Health Canada as factors in the development and maintenance of bones.
Betaine HCL
Betaine hydrochloric acid assists the body's natural stomach acids in the digestion and absorption of nutrients. As we age, we produce less hydrochloric acid which reduces our ability to efficiently absorb nutrients from either food or supplements. Reduced hydrochloric acid production in the stomach reduces calcium absorption and can therefore interfere with bone metabolism. Adding Betaine HCL helps ensure proper absorption of Osteo-Logic and other ingested nutrients.
Silicon
Silicon is a trace element that plays a role in normal bone function. In order to form healthy bones, vitamin C and silicon are required to produce collagen and chondroitin sulfate complexes. Silicon is crucial to bone formation as it is always found in active areas of calcification. Silicon also works with calcium to help restore bones.
Zinc
The body uses zinc to synthesize enzymes essential in making bone tissue. While zinc may only play a minor role in creating healthy bones, studies show that the addition of this trace mineral to a healthy supplementation program can help reduce bone loss.
PRECAUTIONS: As with all natural health products, consult with your health care professional if you are pregnant, lactating or taking prescription medicine. Keep out of reach of children.
