Description: ENZYME DIGEST contains the enzymes necessary to break down all complex components of food. Digestive enzymes are vital to extract the nutritional value from foods. They convert large, complex molecules into small, readily absorbable subunits. To be absorbed and made available to the billions of body cells, food proteins must be converted to free amino acids or small peptides; food fats and oils to fatty acids, and polysaccharides to simple sugars.

Digestive enzymes in the intestinal tract catalyze the conversion of these complex macromolecules into their small component molecules. Bromelain, papain, protease and peptidase break down proteins; lipase and phosphatase act on lipids; amylase, maltase and invertase break down carbohydrates.

ENZYME DIGEST is carefully formulated to provide a full spectrum of digestive enzyme action. Betaine HCl, which is produced from beet molasses, provides the acid which begins protein digestion in the stomach. Papain from papaya contains protein-digesting enzymes. Bromelain from pineapple offers a combination of protein-digesting and milk clotting enzymes. Amylase is an enzyme concentrate from a microbe: Aspergillus oryzae, provides a natural combination of trace enzymes used in the process of digestion.
