Contains 2 billion organisms per tablet at time of manufacture.
Shelf stable at room temperature
BIO–tract ™ Technology
FloraSMART™ utilizes BIO-tract ™ delivery technology which is engineered to deliver probiotics to their optimal locations. BIO-tract ™ is a patent-pending controlled delivery technology developed specifically for beneficial microorganisms. BIO-tract ™ is the first true oral controlled release technology that utilizes recognized and proven principles from the pharmaceutical industry to preserve, protect, and deliver its payload from the store shelf, through the harsh environment of the stomach, and into the intestines where they can be utilized. After swallowing the tablet, a protective gel layer surrounds the tablet and effectively isolates the bacteria to reduce any harmful interaction with the acidic environment in the stomach. Once passing through the stomach, it releases the organisms in a controlled fashion over time, delivering the living bacteria to the small intestine so they may populate the intestinal tract.
Individually sealed packets
Each FloraSMART serving is individually packaged in a foil sache (packet) for traveling convenience and protection.
Shelf stability
FloraSMART’s probiotic formula is stable at room temperature because its probiotics are isolated within the tablets core, thanks to Bio-tract’s protective layer, resulting in a product that is less susceptible to heat, moisture, and oxidative stress.
What are probiotics?
The term “probiotic” means supporting life. Probiotics are friendly and beneficial bacteria. Although there are
hundreds of different strains of bacteria that live in the digestive tract, two of the most prevalent types of beneficial bacteria are lactobacillus acidophilus and bifidobacterium bifidum. These bacteria (as well as others) are normal inhabitants of the large and small intestines.
Why are probiotics so important?
Recent research on probiotics suggests that these friendly bacteria improve gastrointestinal functions, respiratory and allergy response, and may counter the negative effects of antibiotic use. Probiotics support our immune systems, balance intestinal environments and inhibit the growth of pathogenic organisms. These beneficial bacteria: 1) produce vitamins, 2) aid in absorption of nutrients, and 3) crowd out bad bacteria and fungus.
Which probiotics are best?
Most commercial probiotic products are made up of multiple species of Lactobacilli or Bifidobacteria. Some of
the Lactobacilli species are resident (L. acidophilus) and others are transient bacteria (L. casei). Both resident and transient species are beneficial. Resident species live naturally in the digestive tract. Transient species provide benefits while they pass through the digestive system. One strategy is to use a product that contains multiple resident strains of (L. acidophilus or B. bifidum) bacteria and to use specific, well-tested transient strains (L. casei) to provide additional benefits.
Why is manufacturing important?
Probiotics are live microorganisms and, as such, present challenges in maintaining quality and viability throughout different points of manufacture and distribution. These bacteria are susceptible to heat, moisture and air. Individually sealing each FloraSMART tablet helps protect the probiotics from these shipping and storage issues. Beyond manufacturing and shelf stability, the next biggest challenge is to get the probiotics through the stomach acid. The acids of the stomach can kill the beneficial bacteria. It is critical that the bacteria be delivered live into the intestinal tract. FloraSMART accomplishes this with BIO-tract™ technology.
Intestinal Bowel Support
A natural two-part formula to support a healthy intestinal lining and normal bowel function.
Why is a healthy intestinal lining important?
The intestinal lining is essential to proper digestion, immune function, and overall health. The intestinal wall secretes mucous to coat the surface of the intestinal tract and allows good nutrients to be absorbed into the bloodstream while blocking out waste, toxins, parasites, and undigested foods. Without a healthy intestinal lining, toxins and parasites can enter the bloodstream, as a result cramping, bloating, and gas may occur.
What helps support normal bowel function?
Along with maintaining a healthy intestinal lining, normal bowel function can be achieved through herbal support. The most important types of herbs include anti–spasmodic herbs to relax and calm the bowel, astringent herbs to tone and restrict tissue mucosal discharge, carminative herbs to reduce gas and bloating, and demulcent herbs to reduce irritation and inflammation.
Intestinal Bowel SUPPORT™ is a two-part formula designed to maintain a healthy intestinal lining and support normal bowel function.
